The Kirk Sessions:

an evening of poetry and music

Check back for updates about future live events.

The first NSP live event in April at Cortachy Kirk went well, with around 75 attendees.

There was music from David Ogilvy and Don Paterson (see below for more) and a merch stall for the recent NSP collaboration with artists Eddie Summerton and Alan Grieve (‘A Cairngorm Love Affair’ – this will provide some explanation … ).

No poets fell from the thirty-foot pulpit, which was an Easter miracle in itself.

About the music

Music will be provided by the guitar duo of David Ogilvy and Don Paterson, who'll play a short selection of tunes drawn from the jazz, Brazilian and Scottish songbooks.

David Ogilvy is a Scottish American singer-songwriter and producer. He plays mandolin, pedal steel, dobro, guitar, and piano and has performed with a range of artists, including Lucinda Williams, Buddy Miller, Rufus Wainwright, Van Morrison, Martin and Eliza Carthy and Jools Holland.

Better known as a poet, Don Paterson started life as a jazz musician, touring and recording with saxophonist Tim Garland for many years. More recently he has worked in various ensembles with pianist Steve Hamilton and guitarist Graeme Stephen.
