Saturday 22nd November
Online Workshop
Session 1: 11am-1pm GMT

Borrowing her title from an essay by Denise Levertov, Kathleen Jamie invites you to spend an Autumn day in an online workshop, with opportunity to develop two of your poems.

Just six participants will submit two poems in advance for all to see, then we’ll gather on the day and with Kathleen’s guidance, we’ll engage with each other’s work, concentrating on lines, line breaks and diction.

The Details

The day will have two sessions, 11am-1pm, then again from 2-4pm. There will also be a 10 minute break mid-session. You’ll present one poem in the morning, the other in the afternoon.

The course is restricted to six participants.

Cost: £150 per person

To apply for a place, please use the Google Form (linked below) to send two recent poems (not necessarily those you’d want to discuss on the day) by 6th November

STUDIOS

All Studios are currently fully booked. Please check back for future opportunities.

These intensive courses will give participants the opportunity to discuss and develop work in progress with two North Sea Poet tutors over a course of six weeks. The two tutors will lead the classes solo on alternate weeks, so participants can gain insights from their different perspectives.

The courses are designed to allow writers to hone existing work and discuss technique, but also to develop their own analytical skills. Participants will be encouraged to engage with one another’s work, so poems for discussion will be submitted at least two days prior to each class.

Each course is limited to eight participants to allow for concentrated and thorough feedback from the tutors and fellow poets, and so that each student can workshop one poem every week.

The Details

North Sea Poetry Studios would be ideally suited to poets with some history of publication, perhaps working towards a pamphlet or first collection.

The course is restricted to eight participants.

Cost: £360 for the six-week course
